A List of All of the Airports in American Samoa
As you probably are already aware, American Samoa LINK#TT038 is made up of five main islands and two coral atolls scattered across the South Pacific. Flights are by far the fastest and most frequent way to get between the islands, but you can only fly to the islands that have an airstrip.
Which begs the question, what are the airports in American Samoa, and where can you fly to? Find out in this complete list of the airports in American Samoa!

How Many Airports are in American Samoa?
There are three airports in American Samoa: Pago Pago International Airport (PPG) serves as the main international gateway located on Tutuila, whilst Fitiuta Airport (FTI) provides essential aviation services for Ta'u Island of the Manu'a Island Group, and Ofu Airport (OFU) handles the aviation needs of Ofu and Olosega Islands, two more of the Manu'a Islands.

Domestic Flights at Pago Pago Airport

There is one domestic airline servicing these islands, which you can learn more about in our complete guide to Domestic Flights in American Samoa: Your Guide to Interisland Flights LINK#T015.

Fun Facts About Pago Pago International Airport
Pago Pago Airport has a fascinating wartime history that you'll love discovering. Originally constructed during World War Two, the airport still features remnants from its days as a military airbase scattered around the perimeter.
You'll spot the old control tower and other historical sites that tell the story of American Samoa's strategic role during the war. For a deeper dive into these wartime remnants, check out our Best Historical Sites in American Samoa guide.
The airport also boasts a high-tech fire station that operates 24/7. We're particularly fascinated by their airport fire safety training programme, where they actually set old aircraft ablaze to train rescue teams (quite the spectacle if you happen to witness it during your visit).

Fitiuta Airport (FTI)
Fitiuta Airport (FTI) is a public airport located in Fiti'uta, a village on the island of Ta'ū in the Manu'a Islands LINK#D012. The airport is assigned FAQ by the FAA and FTI by the IATA – and yes, FAQ seems rather fitting for an airport that probably gets a lot of questions about how to actually get there!
For a South Pacific island runway, Fitiuta Airport is surprisingly high-tech. The airport features one paved runway designated 12/30 which measures 975 m × 23 m (3,200 ft × 75 ft), along with a fully functioning fire-crash station, lighted runway and complete paving throughout.
The airport is operated and maintained by the Department of Port Administration (DPA) of the American Samoa Government (ASG). More information is available on the DPA website.
Facilities at Fitiuta Airport
Fitiuta Airport maintains basic but essential facilities for travellers. Other than the safety features discussed above, Fitiuta Airport also has an airport terminal building providing shelter, toilets (around the back of the building) and basic passenger services.
Given the remote location of Ta'ū, airport transfers are typically arranged through accommodation providers or local contacts prior to arrival. The airport serves as a vital connection point for residents and visitors to this far-flung corner of American Samoa.

Ofu Airport (OFU)
Ofu Airport (OFU) is a small public airport located 1 mi (1.6 km) southeast of the village of Ofu on the island of Ofu in the Manu'a Islands.
Operated by the Department of Port Administration (DPA) of the American Samoa Government (ASG) on property leased from local families, it serves as a connection point for this remote island community.
Like Fitiuta Airport, Ofu Airport features one paved runway measuring 2,000 x 60 ft (610 x 18 m) with basic small-airport rescue and firefighting requirements.
Facilities at Ofu Airport
As a small regional airport serving a remote island community, Ofu Airport offers basic facilities, including a simple terminal building and essential ground support equipment for aircraft operations. Surprisingly, they also have a couple of ATMs that are available 24/7 - the only ATMs on Ofu Island.
Because of the shorter runway, passenger numbers are reduced to nine per plane. Note that baggage requirements are also strict for this flight.
More information about Ofu Airport is available on the DPA website, while more information on flights can be found in our Domestic Flights in American Samoa: Your Guide to Interisland Flights LINK#T015.
